Ona Therapeutics is a biotech company located in Barcelona (Parc Científic de Barcelona, PCB), focused on developing first-in-class antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) for advanced cancer treatment. By partnering with leading academics and clinicians, we identify novel therapeutic targets from the unique biology of treatment refractory advanced cancer patients, to provide effective new treatments for patients with no remaining alternatives.

Scope

This is a full time position, on-site role for a Financial Accountant at ONA Therapeutics in Barcelona.

The Financial Accountant will be in charge of gathering and monitoring financial data, preparing accurate statements, forecasting costs and revenues, managing tax payments… He/she will ensure compliance with accounting regulations and support the company’s financial decisions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in financial accounting preferably within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector.

Role and Responsibilities

Administration:

  • Create Purchase Orders (POs) for G&A and CROs based on budgets and contracts. Enter CRO contracts and general services POs into our ERP system.
  • Prepare a biweekly PO details report for internal validation with our Operations Director to ensure alignment and verification.
  • Review incidents and resolve issues in the procurement process.
  • Support managing procurement and public grant documentation.
  • Execute a biweekly payment list for validation by controlling and management.
  • Prepare biweekly payments and ad hoc one-off payments.
  • Prepare payroll payments.

Accounting:

  • Record and control invoices and accounting entries in SAGE (accounting ERP), ensuring they are accurate and compliant.
  • Retrieve bank statements and perform reconciliations for bank accounts and credit/debit cards.
  • Monitor expenses by supplier.
  • Review supplier contracts, ensuring adherence to payment terms, and manage accruals.
  • Clean and reconcile all bridge accounts, ensuring the accounting is up to date.
  • Conduct cost control by verifying that all supplier invoices are received and properly validated against contracts.
  • Review and control VAT and personnel tax filings.
  • Provide financial and analytical accounting in the ERP, including invoice uploads, payroll entries, general ledger postings, and cross-checking final information with external advisors.
  • Assist in managing financial reports for public grants, ensuring invoices are correctly assigned to each grant.
  • Support year-end statutory audits, prepare required working papers, and ensure a smooth and timely audit process.
  • Contribute to other ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business in Administration (ADE) and have 3–5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a BioTech startup or a blue-chip organization with exposure to best practices in accounting and administration.
  • Candidates must demonstrate commitment, responsibility, self-motivation, and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in SAGE or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.
