Jose Mesa

Jose Mesa is a Partner at Columbus Venture Partners, where he focuses on investments in biotechnology and health innovation. He has more than 20 years of experience across venture capital, business development and technology transfer, and has led or supported multiple financing rounds in the biotech sector. He has served on the boards of several leading Spanish biotech and healthtech companies, including Sanifit, Minoryx, Stat-Dx and Mosaic Biomedicals, and currently sits on the boards of Arthex Biotech, DeepUll, Quibim, Accipiter Biosciences and Advanthera. Before joining Columbus, Jose was a Partner at Alta Life Sciences and previously led the Life Sciences division at Caixa Capital Risc, the venture capital arm of CriteriaCaixa, where he managed more than €100 million in biotech investments. Earlier in his career, he worked in business development at Genzyme and in the Technology Transfer Program of Genoma España. Jose holds a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics from the Complutense University of Madrid, a degree in Corporate Finance from the Autonomous University of Madrid, an MBA, and completed the Executive Development Program at IESE Business School.
